Mail Service
Mail service is provided six days a week via the Chester branch of the US Postal Service. Within the subdivision there are three groups of cluster mailboxes (see later map). Mailbox assignments and keys are obtained from the Chester Post Office located on Laurel Street across from the Chester Substation of the Plumas County Sheriff's Office Seasonal residents should note that only a permanent mailing address should be used for WACC billing and correspondence.
Roads
All of the two-lane paved streets within the community are county roads. These public routes are subject to California state laws and Plumas County ordinances. Vehicular and traffic law enforcement is handled by the California Highway Patrol, supported by the Plumas County Sheriff's Office. Vehicles operated on streets within the development must be street-legal, and individuals operating them must be licensed drivers. Recognizing the golf-oriented community here, Plumas County has granted a singular exception to that statewide rule: golf carts may be driven on Lake Almanor West streets so long as (a) they are only driven to and from the golf course and the operator's residence, (b) they are only driven by licensed drivers, (c) no more than two people are riding in the cart, and (d) all traffic laws are obeyed. If violations or abuses of this privilege become evident to the County, it is likely to be revoked. Wintertime snow removal on community streets is provided by Plumas County. Once snow begins to accumulate, snowplows make regular runs through the development. Residents and visitors need to ensure that they are parked off the street during snow season so that their vehicles do not impede the plows. When clearing driveways, do not throw snow into the street; this can result in a citation. Also, be prepared to clear a berm (pile) of snow across your driveway left there by the passing snowplow, this is simply an unavoidable byproduct of keeping the streets clear.
Clubhouse Food Service
A seasonal snack bar, open to the public, is located within the golf course clubhouse. Call the office or snack bar for operating hours. |
