GEORGIA KNUTSEN - PRESIDENT

I was raised in Santa Maria, California. After graduation from high school I attended Chapman College and Cal Poly (San Luis Obispo) ultimately graduating from Cal State Bakersfield. My husband Dale and I have 2 daughters and 2 grandchildren. I owned and operated a dance studio in Ridgecrest, CA for 25 years and also taught dance at Cerro Coso Community College. In 1996 after Dale’s retirement and the sale of the dance studio we moved into the home we had designed and built at Lake Almanor West.

Retirement from dance has allowed me time to pursue by love of spinning and weaving. Lake Almanor is the perfect setting for my love of the outdoors; hiking bicycling, cross country skiing, kayaking and doing search and rescue work with my dog Katie. I have been on the WACC Auxiliary Board in the past and served as Secretary and Vice President. I am looking forward to a great year working with the wonderful group of women who make up the Auxiliary Board.

JUDY MARTIN - 1st VICE PRESIDENT

I was raised in Lodi and moved to Santa Cruz in 1962.  I went to work for Longs Drug Store in 1968 and moved to San Jose in 1972.  I married Hal in 1977.  We have been together for 32 years, and have 5 children between us.  To keep busy, we have 17 grandchildren who love taking turns visiting us.  We both had long careers with Longs Drug Store.  I worked 32 years and Hal worked 42 years with the company.

During the winter of 2003 we came here to visit our daughter at her vacation home.  It was so peaceful here watching the snow fall.  I was immediately hooked and we purchased a lot.  I feel blessed to have been able to build our dream home here in 2004.  We have met so many wonderful people in this community, where we like to participate in kayaking, hiking, snowshoeing, boating, etc.  I have wonderful neighbors who have encouraged me to play bridge and to take up quilting.  I have become involved in the Hospital Auxiliary, the Quilt Guild and now the LAWCC Auxiliary.  I am looking forward to serving you on this board with some wonderful ladies.

LYDIA FREEBY - 2nd VICE PRESIDENT

After many years of owning our lot at Lake Almanor West, my husband and I had our house built in 2005.  We are both retired now, John from Yolo County Health Department and I from teaching for the Davis School District.  We have a son who lives with his wife in New York City and soon we hope to be grandparents.

We now divide our time between our five acres in Davis and our home in beautiful LAW.  We love the mountains, lake and wonderful people of LAW.  This is truly paradise and I'm happy to be involved in a small way.  We hope to meet many more residents of LAW at the fun activities in which the Auxiliary is involved.

Our hobbies are now pretty much confined to developing a yard at LAW and keeping up our acreage in Davis, although John enjoys woodworking and I enjoy photography.

RITA ISBELL - SECRETARY

I was born and grew up in St. Louis, MO. I earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from the University of Missouri at St. Louis. I also have an Executive Secretary Degree from Platte College in Overland Park, KS. I have lived in Omaha, NE, Olathe, KS and the Dallas/Fort Worth area of Texas. Jack and I were married in 2004 and in the summer of 2005 I moved here after living 20 years in Texas. We have three children and one granddaughter between us. Our granddaughter, who lives in Texas, loves to visit us every summer as is evidenced by her extending her visit each year.

I started my career with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB) in the Criminal Referral Department of the Supervision Division. In 1989, the Supervision Division of the FHLB became the Office of Thrift Supervision, an agency of the Department of Treasury. I earned the Federal Thrift Regulator Accreditation and retired as a Safety and Soundness, and Compliance Examiner in August 2005. I feel fortunate to live in such a beautiful area with wonderful friends. I enjoy hiking, fishing, geo-caching, snowshoeing, tennis and quilting. I am active in the quilt guild and served as membership chairperson for two years. I work with the Lions Club to help organize the annual July 4th Art-Craft Show in Chester Park. I look forward to serving as Secretary and working with our great auxiliary board.

BONNIE SLOAN - TREASURER

I was born and raised in Vancouver, Washington and moved to the Bay Area in 1961.  I
attended San Francisco State University where I met my husband Bob, then completed my
degree and teaching credential at Calif. State U. Hayward.  We raised 3 children in Dublin, CA
and I taught high school science for 20 years in Union City, CA.  We moved to Lake Almanor West
in 2003 after looking for several years for a "summer cabin" around the Prattville area.  Our
summer cabin turned into a real house and the neighborhood a beautiful place with great people
and lots of activities, so we traded 31 years of traffic, noise, and too many people in the Bay Area, for
this paradise of serenity and outdoor fun. I especially love the hiking, boating, kayaking, snow activities,
bridge games, tennis, and craft and quilting groups that this community offers.  I am looking forward
to serving as treasurer on the Auxiliary board. I previously served as president and secretary.
